Why this matters
Why fraud prevention matters
Wire fraud, identity theft, and digital impersonation are growing risks across the industry. Criminals often target moments of urgency and complexity. What we will never do
Bureau One will never ask you for these
We will never send wire instructions by email. Wiring details are confirmed by phone, using a number you already have rather than a number sent to you in a message.
We will never change wire instructions mid-transaction. If you receive a change, it did not come from us.
We will never ask for your online banking password, your full Social Security number by email or text, or a one-time passcode sent to your phone.
We will never ask you to send funds to an individual rather than to a licensed title or escrow company.
We will never pressure you to move money quickly or outside normal business hours.
We will never ask you to buy gift cards, cryptocurrency, or prepaid cards for any part of a real estate transaction.
If a message does any of these, it did not come from Bureau One. Stop, and call your Bureau One professional at a number you already have, or call us at 435-731-4432.
What to do if you suspect fraud
- Stop. Do not send funds or sensitive information.
- Contact your bank immediately and request a wire recall.
- Report to the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center at ic3.gov (opens in a new tab).
- Contact your Bureau One professional using a trusted, known phone number, or call Bureau One at 435-731-4432.
